I thought I wanted to open a cafe.

Not a particularly unique goal, I know. In my early 20s, if I couldn't sleep, I would think up new recipes instead of counting sheep. I loved reading menus and got a buzz out of a quirky or unique restaurant bathroom. After the kids were born and I no longer had the time or brain energy to think about food (or even cook it!) my focused changed to Early Childhood Education.

While I loved teaching, my favourite parts of the job were creating new activities, redesigning the classroom and coming up with new ideas for the playground. A PATTERN STARTED TO EMERGE. I didn't want to be a restauranteur or the manager of a day care centre - I wanted to design and create! It took a while to realise it but what I wanted most of all was to create something new every day in a space just for me!

Ta da! Mad4Mod!

Now my aim in life is to spend my days painting and reupholstery worn out old pieces of furniture from the 50s, 60s & 70s while drinking coffee and listening to classic rock. And if I can make it more fun by doing it surrounded by other like-minded people then I have finally cracked the whole 'what-do-I-want-to-do-with-my-life' conundrum!
